Intro
Custom templates can be authored by Axiom admins, will make your user's lives easier, and will accelerate adoption of Axiom in your org. Templates can include one or more access requests (a bundle), and for each access request some of the fields may be left unfilled, to be completed by the template user.
Custom templates are presented to your users in the Select template dialog, which is displayed when a user presses the New request button (on the Home page or the Requests list page)
Authoring custom templates
Sign in to the Axiom user console as an admin, then go to the New request bundle page. To get to there
On the New request bundle page, you will see the Save as template toggle, and the banner introducing the templates feature (but only if you are an Axiom admin)
When you turn on the Save as template toggle, you will be shown a warning explaining that you can not switch from template mode back to request mode. You can also start by modifying the request bundle, and turn the Save as template toggle on at any time - and all your request definitions will be maintained for the template.
When Save as template mode is on, you will see the additional fields for the template: name, custom logo, and description
Name is required, custom logo defaults to the Axiom logo, and description is optional.
We strongly recommend giving your templates meaningful names and full descriptions - this will make it easier for your users to use them.
When saving as template you do not need to fill out all the fields for the access requests - you can leave the Principal and/ or the Permission empty, and let the template user complete them.
Once you press the Save template button, you will directed back to the home page
Deleting templates
To delete a template:
Press on the New request button (Home page or Request list page)
On the Select template dialog, locate the template you wish to delete.
On the template card, you will see the three-dot menu (only visible to admins)
From the menu select Delete.
Editing templates
Currently, you cannot edit templates directly. In order to modify a template, you should create a new template off of an existing one:
Press New request.
From the Select template dialog, choose the template you want to edit (create a modified copy of). You will then be directed to the New request bundle page, loaded based on the template you wanted to edit.
Turn on the Save as template toggle.
Make the desired edits to your template, and save it as a new template.
Optionally: delete the old template.
Note that if you do not delete the old template, and both have the same name and description, this will be confusing to your users.
Built-in template
Built-in templates are created automatically, based on the systems you have integrated into Axiom (see Integrations). Built-in templates include only a single access request, and only the System is pre-selected for that access request. Users need to complete the Target, Princical, and Permission field for that request, can also add more request to the bundle before submitting them together.
How users access templates
Users choose either a built-in or custom templates from the Select template dialog
They select the template by pressing anywhere on the template card
Templates and Scoping
Custom templates are presented to users only if they have the required Axiom Scopes for all access requests that make up the template.
