Overview

Integrating with OpsGenie allows you to use oncall rota information in Axiom automated Workflows.

OpsGenie integration consists of:

  • Generating an OpsGenie API key with appropriate permissions.

  • Gathering OpsGenie integration details (company name, API key, endpoint).

  • Entering the OpsGenie integration details in the Axiom web-based user console.

Prerequisites

To complete this integration, you will need the following:

  • Axiom Tenant admin access

  • OpsGenie admin access

Step by step guide

OpsGenie steps

  1. Sign in to your OpsGenie account with admin privileges (account owner or global admin).

  2. Navigate to the "Settings" page.

  3. Scroll, down and from the "App Settings" section in the left side navigation, select "API Key Management".

  4. Click on the "Add New API Key" button.

  5. In the new API key creation form:

    1. Enter a descriptive name for the API key (e.g., "Axiom Integration")

    2. Select the following access rights:

      1. Read

      2. Create/ Update

      3. Configuration Access

  6. Click "Add API Key" to save the new API key.


Axiom steps

  1. Sign in to the Axiom web-based user console, and press on "Integrations" from the left side navigation menu

  2. Under "Collaboration" find the card for OpsGenie, and press on the "+ Add" button

  3. In the OpsGenie integration page enter the the connection details:

    1. Name:
      Choose a meaningful name for this integration (e.g., "Production OpsGenie")

    2. Company Name:
      Enter your OpsGenie company name

    3. API Key:
      Enter the API key you generated in OpsGenie

    4. Endpoint:
      Enter your OpsGenie endpoint (typically api.opsgenie.com).

  4. Click on the "Integrate" button

Making use of the new Integration

After you press Integrate, Axiom will perform an initial scan of OpsGenie to collect it's users, schedules, etc.

Once the initial scan is complete, you can begin using your OpsGenie oncall schedules in Workflows.

To find out the status of the scan, click on "accounts". If there is a spinner, then the scan is still in progress. If there is a "Play" icon, then the scan is complete. Hover over the play button to see the scan details. Press on the play button to scan again now.
